City approves hiring of new Community Center Director and Code Enforcement Officer

The Madison City Commission approved some personnel items as part of its regular meeting on Monday.  As part of those items, the commission approved the hiring of a new director for the Madison Community Center.  Gene Wockenfuss will start in the position as Community Center Director on January 10th.  The commission also approved the hiring of a new Building Official and Code Enforcement Officer for the city.  Gary Zay was hired for that position, effective Monday.

Also during Monday’s meeting, commissioners approved updated COVID-19 procedures for city employees based on recently updated CDC guidelines.  City Human Resource Director Kristin Olson explained some of the changes to commissioners.

Olson said that COVID-19 testing for city employees could be handled a couple of different ways.

Commissioners Monday also approved the addition of the After School and Daycare Programs at the Madison Community Center to the city’s Essential Worker Policy.
