Active COVID-19 cases increase; four deaths reported in state Tuesday
The state Department of Health on Tuesday reported four days worth of COVID-19 information because of the New Year’s holiday. The state reported more than three-thousand new positive COVID-19 cases, and the number of active cases in the state increased to more than ten-thousand-700 as of Tuesday. Four COVID-19 deaths were also included in Tuesday’s report, putting the overall total number of virus-related deaths at just less than 25-hundred since the start of the pandemic.
Lake County’s number of active COVID-19 cases increased to 131 as of Tuesday. McCook County had 66, Moody County reported 62, and Kingsbury County had 43 active COVID-19 cases Tuesday. There were 340 active cases also reported in Brookings County.Â
Locally, according to the state Department of Health, Madison Regional Health had three COVID-19 occupied hospital beds as of Tuesday, with one in ICU and one on a ventilator. Â
