Two DSU Football Players Named Player-of-the-Week

Two players for the Dakota State football team earned player-of-the-week honors after the NSAA announced this week’s winners on Monday. QB Aiden Jungers won Offensive Player-of-the-Week, and Noah Karwacki was named Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.

In his first career collegiate start, Jungers accounted for four touchdowns, including three touchdowns in the final quarter, to lead DSU to a 38-24 come-from-behind road victory at Mayville State.  He threw two touchdown passes and ran for a pair of touchdowns.

Jungers finished the game by completing 17 passes in 25 attempts for a 68 percent completion rate, as well as 150.8 passing efficiency. He rushed 24 times for 93 yards, including a 29-yard rushing touchdown on a fourth down situation late in the fourth quarter as the Trojans pulled away for the victory.  He threw a completed pass to nine different receivers in the game.

Special Teams Player-of-the-Week, Noah Karwacki was perfect on PAT extra point kicks to go along with his impressive punting game in DSU’s win.  He converted all four PAT extra point kicks, earning four points in the game.

Karwacki had five punts for 237 yards and averaged 47.4 yards per punt. Four of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line, including his season-best 74 yards punt that downed on MSU’s 1-yard line.  He also had six kick-offs for 365 yards (60.8 yards per kick-offs), with two kick-offs being touchbacks.

The Trojans will remain on the road this week when they travel to play Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday, October 29th. Kickoff is 1pm and can be heard on FM 103.1 or AmazingMadison.com.
