Trojans Release 2022-23 Men’s Basketball Schedule
The Dakota State Basketball team released their schedule for the 2022-23 season last night, announcing that they will begin the season with their annual home kick-off tournament on October 28th. The Trojans will play in three different tournaments, a game at the Sanford Pentagon, and also 14 games in the NSAA conference.Â
It will be the second straight year that DSU will host its kick-off home tournament, featuring teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference and the NSAA. Presentation (S.D.) will kick off the DSU tournament on October 28th versus Midland (Neb.), followed by DSU taking on Briar Cliff (Iowa).
The home tournament concludes on Oct. 29 with PC taking on Briar Cliff, followed by DSU facing Midland.
The Trojans head to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., on November 1st for a match-up with Dordt (Iowa), before staying on the road for most of November. The Trojans return home on November 30th for its lone home November contest, hosting long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan.Â
The 14-game North Star Athletic Association schedule kicks off on December 3rd with DSU visiting Bellevue (Neb.).Â
The 2023 year will then be in full swing with 13 North Star conference games, starting on January 6th with the Trojans hosting Valley City State (N.D.) and Dickinson State (N.D.) on January 7th.Â
Dakota State plays its final road NSAA contests versus Dickinson State on February 10th and Valley City State on February 11th, and then will host Bellevue in the final regular-season contest on February 16th.
The NSAA Men’s Basketball Postseason Tournament begins on February 21st, with the semifinal games on February 25 followed by the championship game on February 26.
The NSAA tournament’s winner will earn the automatic bid to the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament Opening Round, which is set for March 10-11. The national tournament opening round winners will move on to the final site at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., on March 16-21.
