Trojans Host Their Lone Cross Country Meet Today

Dakota State Trojan cross country squads will host its annual home meet at Madison Country Club this weekend, the 20th annual Herb Blakley Invitational which honors the longtime former coach at General Beadle/Dakota State.

The Herb Blakely Invitational today will be DSU’s lone home meet of the season. The Trojans took both women’s and men’s team titles at last year’s meet. It was the first women’s team title since 2009.

This cross country meet will host 5 teams with almost 80 runners. The Women’s 5k race kicks off at 10:30am, followed by the men’s 8K race at 11:15am. 

The Trojans officially started the 2022 season on September 2nd with an ‘Under the Lights’ Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls, SD. Overall the women’s team finished 22nd and the men’s finished 19th as a team in the 4-mile run. 

DSU takes a week off from cross country action next week before they prepare for another largest cross country meet in the Midwest region, the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 23rd.
