Trojans Expecting Their Experience to Help Them This Season

After a year where they went 9-5 in the NSAA Conference, the Dakota State Volleyball team is getting ready to tip off the 2022 Fall Season.

The Trojans have a large amount of their team from last year returning for this season, including Seniors Hannah Viet and Peyton Groft. They both believe that the amount of experience that is returning will be advantageous for the team, as Groft explains.

Groft also mentioned the team chemistry that the Trojans have, and the importance of having that chemistry.

One of the goals that the Trojans have for this upcoming year, is of course, to make it back to the National Tournament, and both Viet and Groft feel they have the pieces to achieve that goal. Another goal that Viet said they have for this season is to see the success of individual players as well as the success of the whole team.

DSU will tip off their season in the Chick Fil-A Classic this weekend in West Palm Beach, Florida. Viet mentioned how much it can help the Trojans to travel to Florida in the long run.

There are also short term benefits to playing in the tournament this weekend, with Groft saying how it can help the team see where they are at this early.

First tip is scheduled for 11am on Friday, August 19th against Columbia International, and the Trojans will play four teams during the weekend. The first game at DSU this season will be against Bellevue on September 14th.
