Trojans Built for Sustained Success After Record Breaking Season

One month ago, the Dakota State women’s basketball team was beginning their journey through the NAIA National Tournament. After making it to their first ever Fab Four appearance, the future continues to look bright for the Trojans.

The Trojans are currently slated to lose three big contributors from this past season: Courtney Menning, Elsie Aslesen, and Sidney Fick.

One thing that Head Coach David Moe knows is that you can’t replace players. However, he believes that with the program that is currently in place, it may not be necessary to have to replace good players. This was something that was even shown heading into this past season, as Moe mentioned.

Menning, Aslesen, and Fick helped to develop a winning culture at DSU that Moe feels will be beneficial for the future of the team.

Winning the way Moe and DSU has helped with recruiting as well. It can be easier to get recruits to buy into what is being sold to them when they are able to see actual results on the floor instead of just “coaches speak”.

Coming off of a record breaking season, like winning a school record 29 games, and expecting to have starters like Savannah Walsdorf and Lilli Mackley back for next season will definitely help the Trojans as they continue to build a winning program.Â
