Trojans 2022 Volleyball Schedule Released

The Dakota State volleyball schedule for 2022 has been released, and on the schedule they have three preseason tournaments and also face eight different teams that qualified for the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round in 2021.

Dakota State is coming off an outstanding season in 2021, finishing with an overall record 21-9 and 9-5 record in the North Star Athletic Association.

The 33-match slate kicks off with 14 matches on the road. The Trojans will open their season against Columbia International (S.C.) in West Palm Springs on Aug. 19. DSU also plays Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on the same day and wraps up the Keiser Tournament against Loyola (La.) and Georgetown (Ky.) on Aug. 20.

Dakota State will then begin their 14-match North Star Athletic Association schedule on Sept. 14 in their home opener against Bellevue. Trojans will be holding their alumni match gathering during Trojan Day homecoming week on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m.

The Trojans wrap up their home schedule with a pair of conference matches against Viterbo on Nov. 4 and Waldorf on Nov. 5.

The top six teams in the final NSAA volleyball standings will advance to the conference postseason tournament, held at Civic Arena in Watertown, S.D. The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be held on Nov. 11, with the championship match set for Nov. 12.

The winner of the NSAA volleyball postseason tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round, which is set for Nov. 19. The national opening round winners will advance to the final site at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa on Nov. 29-Dec. 3.

Trojans will end up playing opponents from 13 different states, and will also play in 13 different neutral site matches during their first 14 matches. DSU is scheduled to play 10 matches at DSU Fieldhouse, including a season-high five-match home stand from Sept. 14 through Sept. 26.
