Nine DSU Athletes Earn Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

The United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Thursday the men and women individual academic honors along with team honors. Both mens and womens teams for Dakota State were named, along with a combined nine athletes. 

In order to earn these academic honors, athletes needed to meet certain criteria. Those criterias are achieving a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 through the end of the semester of competition and must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.

The runners that achieved this honor for the men’s team were: Freshman Cody Farland, (Indoor 4×800-meter relay), Junior Riley Greenhoff (Outdoor 4×100-meter relay), Junior Joshua Krull (Indoor 4×800-meter relay), Freshman Joe Lynch (Indoor High Jump), Sophomore Taylor Myers (Outdoor Half-Marathon), Junior Trey Reindl (Outdoor 4×100-meter relay), Junior Evan Slominski (Indoor 4×800-meter relay), Senior Conner Tordsen (Indoor Weight Throw and Outdoor Hammer Throw and Discus Throw).

Senior Jacia Christiansen (Outdoor Half Marathon) was the lone individual on the girls team to earn academic honors from the USTFCCCA. 

Both DSU men’s and women’s track and field teams were named to USTFCCCA NAIA All-Academic Team as well, with the men’s team maintaining a GPA of 3.14 and the women’s team maintaining a GPA of 3.19. More than 50 teams were honored by the USTFCCCA.
