Mayville State Spoils First Home Doubleheader For DSU Baseball

Mayville State swept DSU baseball in their first home games of the season yesterday.

In game one, the Trojans mustered up on five runs on six hits in a 9-5 loss. The Comets started the top of the first with four runs. While DSU answered in the bottom half of the inning with one run, MSU would respond with two runs in the fifth, two runs in the sixth, and one in the seventh. Kameron Bryant and Seth Altwine each doubled, with Bryant driving in three runs. JD Kirchner took the loss, his third of the year. He allowed 11 hits and five earned runs over five and a thirds innings.

In game two, the Trojans had a late surge in the seventh, but was shut down a run-shy of tying the game, losing 4-3. Mason Macaluso had two hits and two RBIs. Ryan McDaniel also had a double and a run driven in.

DSU is 15-9 and will host Mayville State for another two games today at Flynn Field, starting at 1:00pm.
