Dakota State Women’s Basketball picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday night, defeating eighth ranked Dordt 79-60 at the DSU Fieldhouse. The Lady T’s shot 49 percent in the game and won their eighth straight contest at home. They also snapped a five-game losing streak to the visiting Defenders, winning in the series for the first time since 2015.

DSU trailed for most of the first quarter before a late run pushed them ahead and then would take a commanding lead of 37-23 at halftime. After a back-and-forth third quarter, the Lady T’s erupted for a 21-6 run to start the fourth quarter, putting the game out of reach. Jessie Giles led the way with 16 points, Elsie Aslesen and Shaylee DeBeer each chipped in with 12 points.

The Lady T’s rebounded from a season opening loss this past weekend and will be in action at the end of the week. They will take on two nationally ranked teams at the Cattle Classic, hosted by Concordia, Nebraska, with games on Thursday and Friday.
