Lady T’s Season Comes To A Close
The Dakota State Women’s Basketball Team saw their season come to an end on Saturday, in Semifinal action at the NSAA Tournament in Watertown. Matching up against Mayville State University, the Lady T’s fell just short in an 85-82 loss. DSU built an advantage of 36-23 early in the second quarter before the Comets went on a 12-0 run to pull within one. After an exchange of downtown shots, Mayville would end the half leading 46-44.
The Comets stretched the lead to double-digits for most of the second half. Dakota State made their move late in the fourth quarter, pulling within three at 81-78 with two minutes left. After missed opportunities from both sides, the Lady T’s got a steal and a bucket to pull within one. Mayville was able to go four for four at the free throw line down the stretch and DSU could not hit the main bucket they needed, ending their season.
It was the most wins in season since the 2007-08 season and their first conference semifinal appearance since the 2013-14 season. Their 10 game winning streak during the regular season was also the longest since 1983-84. Lady T’s ended their season at 17-14.
Lone Senior Linsday Vogl ended her career tied with the fourth most threes made in school history. She shot 45.9 percent from beyond the arc, third best single-season percentage in DSU history and she has the third best career three point percentage in school history.
Mayville State won both the Men’s and Women’s NSAA Tournament Titles on Sunday.
