Hubbard Wins Discus Title at Red Raider Invite

On the second day of the Northwestern Red Raider Invitational this weekend, Traia Hubbard collected the discus throwing title and other throwers grabbed personal records.

Hubbard captured the discus throw title by hitting the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying mark of 140 feet, 7 inches on her final attempt for the Trojans.

Another DSU discus thrower placed in the Top 10, with Britni Plucker placing sixth with 121 feet, 10 inches. Alexis Olson threw 107 feet, 2 inches to finish 14th, followed by Gabriella Peitzmeier with a 15th place finish after throwing 106 feet, 6.75 inches and Bella Maxwell with a 16th place with 106 feet, 5.25 inches.

Myra Whitehead produced a personal best of 85 feet, 8 inches for the Trojans. Oliviyah Thornton added 78 feet, 1.75 inches, followed by Kiana Mounga with 71 feet, 6.25 inches.

Dakota State placed three throwers in the shot-put event, paced by Hubbard with a fourth-place finish, throwing 40 feet, 6.25 inches. Maxwell added 37 feet, 6 inches to finish eighth, while Thornton was 10th after throwing 36 feet, 9.75 inches.

Mounga recorded a 12th-place finish with a toss of 33 feet, 7.25 inches. Olson posted a personal record of 32 feet, 7.75 inches to finish 16th, followed by Peitzmeier with a 17th-place after throwing 32 feet, 7.5 inches. Whitehead threw31 feet, 10 inches and Plucker 30 feet, 3.75 inches.

Dakota State will be taking their running squad to the abbreviated NCAA Division I meet, South Dakota Challenge today, with the meet beginning at 3pm.
