Freshman Help Lead DSU to Second Place Finish

Three Dakota State  freshmen women’s runners placed in the Top 10 of the 20th annual Herb Blakely Invitational Saturday morning at Madison Country Club. The Trojans earned a runner-up honor, placing second, for the third time in the last four seasons, tallying a low score of 41 points.

Freshman Lindsey Roth led DSU, finishing in fourth-place with a time of 20 minutes, 41 seconds. Madelyn Sylva followed up with fifth place finish, improving her personal record time of 20 minutes, 44 seconds. Brooke Beaucaire was ninth after clocking a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds. 

Jada Anderson registered a time of 23 minutes, 4 seconds for a 21st-place finish for DSU.  Saddie Palmquist followed up with a 22nd place finish in 23 minutes, 15 seconds.  

Two runners made their collegiate cross country debut for the Trojans at the invite. Kira Goldade ran a time of 25 minutes, 26 seconds followed by Courtney Meyer with a time of 26 minutes, 56 seconds.

Freshman Emily Haverdink of NWIA won the individual title with a time of 19 minutes, 17 seconds. The Red Raiders placed three runners in the top three and seven runners in the top 10.

The Trojans will take a week off before returning to action on Friday, September 23rd, when they compete in the Roy Griak Invitational.
