Facing off against Dakota Wesleyan for the second time on the season, the DSU Men were unable to keep up in an 88-59 loss at home last night. Playing short handed, Dakota State was able to stay close in the early going, both teams trading buckets from beyond the arc. DWU used a 9-0 in the first half to take a 20-8 advantage and never looked back, having a commanding half time lead of 47-27.

The Trojans came out with a little bit of momentum in the second half and brought the deficit to 15 points. The Tigers answered right back and built their lead to over 30 points halfway through the second half. DWU led DSU in the vast majority of stat categories.

Anthony Costello had 20 points and nine rebounds for Dakota State, while Brady Van Holland had 18 points and eight rebounds in the loss. The injury bug has hit the Trojans hard this season and they have not played at full strength yet. DSU will be back in action on Saturday night, in a Men’s/Women’s doubleheader versus Oglala Lakota. Women’s game is slated to start at 5pm and the action can be heard on FM103 and amazingmadison.com.
