DSU Women’s Basketball Voted Number One in Preseason Poll

The Dakota State women’s basketball team was voted unanimously as the 2022-23 North Star Women’s Basketball preseason favorite to win the league title.

The Trojans tallied all eight first place votes and 64 points to secure the top spot in the preseason poll. DSU swept both the NSAA regular-season and postseason title for the second straight season, finishing with an overall record of 27-8 and 13-1 record in league play. Dakota State advanced to the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament Opening Round’s championship game before falling to Rocky Mountain. 

The NSAA conference season begins on December 3rd with Dakota State visiting Bellevue. 

All eight North Star members will compete in the women’s basketball postseason conference tournament, which is set for Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at four higher seeds. The four opening round winners will move on to the Final Four tournament held at Civic Arena in Watertown, SD, on February 26-27, 2023.

The North Star Women’s Basketball Postseason Tournaments champion will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament’s Opening Round scheduled for March 7-8, 2023. The winner of the national tournament’s opening round will advance to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa from March 13-18, 2023.
