DSU Volleyball Goes 2-2 Over the Weekend

Last weekend, the Dakota State volleyball team traveled to play in the Viterbo Tournament, leaving with a 2-2 record through the four matches.

In the first match of the weekend for the Trojans, they opened with a 1-0 match lead over Rocky Mountain. However, the Battlin’ Bears held the Trojans to below .100 hitting percentage to earn a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21).

In the second match of the day, DSU recorded season-highs of 65 kills and 133 digs, holding off Rochester in a five-set thriller. Set scores were 25-17, 22-25, 23-25, 25-17, and 15-12 in both teams’ first-ever all-time meeting.

The following day, DSU fell short to nationally ranked No. 18 Taylor in four sets (25-19, 21-25, 25-16, and 25-13).  After hitting below .100 in the first two sets Saturday afternoon in the final match of the Viterbo Tournament, Dakota State stormed back to a 3-2 thriller over Bethel (15-25, 10-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-9).

Dakota State finished its preseason tournament tune-ups with an overall record of 7-7 after going 2-2 in the Viterbo Tournament.

DSU plays its first home match of the season Wednesday evening as they open their 14-match NSAA slate against Bellevue.  The Trojans kick off their season-long five-match home stand with a 6pm first serve at the DSU Fieldhouse.
