DSU Softball Goes Winless in First Four Games of Tucson Invitational

After winning the first game of the season, the Dakota State softball team had dropped seven straight, with four losses coming this past weekend at the Tucson (AZ) Invitational.

Xotchil (Zoht-chill) Lopez was the only Trojan with multiple hits and an RBI in game one’s 11-3 loss to Jamestown Friday. Lopez also had a two-run home run in the second game. This was a win by St. Francis on Friday.

On Saturday, DSU dropped two games, the first to Roosevelt. The Trojans couldn’t overcome a seven-run second inning, losing 11-2. Dakota State got little offense, including a two-run homer from Mackenzie Sims. DSU and St. Francis played the last game of the weekend, with the Red Flash shutting out the Trojans. DSU sprayed only four hits in the 7-0 loss.

The softball team resumes the Tucson Invitational with a game against Northwestern College this morning at 11:00am CT (10:00am MT).
