The Dakota State Men’s and Women’s basketball teams both picked up victories on Saturday versus Oglala Lakota College at the DSU Fieldhouse.

In the Women’s game, it was a slow start for both sides as DSU led 14-10 after the first quarter. After that, it was all Dakota State as they outscored OLC 34-8 in the second quarter and 88-29 over the last three quarters for the 102-39 win. It was a team effort for the Trojans, as everyone who played scored. Lindsey Vogl dropped in 22 points, going 7 for 13 from downtown, Jessi Giles had 20 points, Savannah Walsdorf with 13 and Morgan Koepsell finished with eight points and seven rebounds. It was the fifth win of the season for the DSU Women, and third win in the last four games.

It was a slow start also in the Men’s game but DSU was able to halt a five-game losing skid with a 91-59 win. There were two ties and eight lead changes over the first seven minutes of the contest, and with Dakota State leading 19-17 they went on a 7-0 run to grab a light hold of the game and would lead 41-25 at halftime. The Trojans would maintain a double digit lead throughout the second half, even after the visiting Bravehearts made a push. Carson Rentz dropped in 23 points, Anthony Costello had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, Cole Bruhn had 17 points with eight rebounds, Brady Van Holland had 11 points and Sawyer Koch finished with nine points and ten rebounds.

Both Teams will get NSAA play into full swing this weekend, on the road at Valley City on Friday and Dickinson State on Saturday – games can be heard on FM103.
