DSU Men Win NSAA Indoor Track & Field Championship, Women Place Second

The Dakota State men’s indoor track and field team won the NSAA championship for the third time in four years in Brookings yesterday with a score of 253. Connor Tordsen won his second NSAA weight throw title with a meet record of 17.75 meters. DSU won their third consecutive 4 x 800-meter relay conference title with Robert Mayberry, Tucker Murtha, Roger Oliete Tejedor, and Joshua Krull. The Trojans also got wins in the 600-meter run, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 3,000-meter run, 1-mile run, and the 4 x 400-meter relay. Cody Farland was named the North Star Men’s Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Meet. Head coach Anthony Drealan was selected as the NSAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Coach-of-the-Year for the third time in four years.

The Dakota State women’s indoor track and field team finished second to Dickinson State for the NSAA championship. Jacia Christiansen won her second straight conference title in the 5,000-meter run at 18:56.33. She also won the 1-mile run. Kezley Yeager was the first Trojan runner to win the 400-meter dash title since the conference meet started in 2015. The Trojans won three more events, including the 200-meter dash, 4 x 400-meter relay, and the weight throw. Christiansen was voted as the co-league Most Valuable Athlete award with Brooke Malsom of Valley City State.
