Hosting a two-day tournament at the DSU Fieldhouse, the Trojan Men split their match-ups over the weekend, defeating Oak Hills (MN) 98-47 on Friday night and dropping a game to Doane University 82-57 on Saturday.

In their win over Oak Hills, DSU set a school record with 22 3-pointers and had everyone who played in the game score. Carson Rentz led four players in double digits with 17 points going 5-10 beyond the arc. It was the third straight win for Dakota State.

Saturday’s game saw Doane use an effective full-court man-to-man defense with trapping opportunities to stifle the DSU attack. After an early lead, the Trojans fell behind midway through the first half and trailed 41-27 at halftime. The Tigers would stretch their lead to 30 points in the second half before DSU attacked late. It was a mirror opposite of the prior nights victory, as the Trojans shot just 35% in the game and 26% from 3-point land. Josh McGreal was the lone Trojan in double-digits with 23 points on the night.

Dakota State stands at 3-8 on the season and will be back in action on the second of December in an exhibition game at Black Hills State University.
