DSU Baseball Grabs Three Wins in Weekend Roadtrip

Dakota State baseball took a strong hold of second place in the NSAA standings with three wins against Viterbo this weekend.

The Trojans earned two wins on Saturday, starting with a 9-1 win over the V-Hawks. DSU scored four runs in the sixth, including Kameron Bryant’s two-run double and a Mason Macaluso solo home run. Chris Burke finished off the scoring in the final inning with a homer as well. Will Clair pitched a complete game, striking out eight. Another great pitching performance gave DSU the win in game two, as JD Kirchner went six innings and struck out 11 in a 3-2 win. Down one in the last inning, Jace Pribyl delivered a sacrifice fly RBI to tie the game and Burke scored on a pass ball for the game-winning run.

Dakota State started Sunday with a 5-2 win. Pribyl drove in three runs on two hits. Macaluso, Burke, and Seth Altwine also had two hits each. Noah Angstadt blasted a solo home run in the ninth. The Trojans couldn’t find a win in the series finale, losing 2-1. Bryant’s homer in the fourth inning was the offense for DSU in game two. The Trojans had six hits total.

DSU is 25-11 overall and 12-4 in conference play. The team has one more road game before coming back to Madison. The Trojans visit University of Minnesota-Morris tonight at 6:00pm.
