Dakota State Splits Conference Contests on Saturday

The Dakota State basketball teams split the first conference games of the season on Saturday night against Bellevue.

The women’s team beat the Bruins in a back and forth overtime thriller. Savannah Walsdorf scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in an 80-72 win in the first NSAA match of the season. The Trojans pulled down a season-high 52 rebounds for their sixth straight win. DSU won their 25th game in the last 26 games at DSU Fieldhouse, dating back to last season. The team concludes a four-game homestand on December 16th.

The men’s team struggled offensively in the first half in the 67-54 loss to Bellevue. DSU made only seven shots in the first 20 minutes and one of the made shots was a three-pointer. Deshawn Kelly scored a season-high 18 points off the bench in 29 minutes. Jordan Lynn contributed seven points, three assists and three rebounds. DSU hosts #10 University of Jamestown on Tuesday.
