Dakota State Softball Splits Thursday’s Games With Dakota Wesleyan

Dakota State softball split their games with Dakota Wesleyan in their first two home games of the season.

DSU scored seven runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at eight. DWU scored one in extra innings to take the lead and beat the Trojans 9-8 in game one. Xotchil Lopez had four hits and a stolen base. Mackenzie Sims had two hits and drove in three. Angela Slattery took the loss, pitching six innings, allowing three runs and striking out two.

Lia Chan hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, helping DSU to a 9-7 victory in game two. This was Chan’s second homer of the season. She added another RBI in the sixth inning. Madissen Larson scored twice in the win.

DSU is 3-10 and hosts Waldorf for a doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday.
