Dakota State Softball Splits Conference Doubleheader With Waldorf For Second Straight Day

After Saturday’s doubleheader split with Waldorf, Dakota State softball split games on Sunday with the Warriors.

Down four in the top of fourth, DSU responded with eight runs over the next three innings and hung on for an 8-5 win in game one. Angela Slattery had two hits, including a triple. She drove in a run and scored once herself. Lia Chan hit two runs in, both when she reached safely because of errors. Slattery also picked up the win on the mound. She went five innings, allowing only one hit and three earned runs, and striking out four.

Waldorf jumped out to a five-run lead early and the Trojans couldn’t finish a comeback in the later innings, losing 5-4. DSU outhit the Warriors 8-2, with Michelle Evdos and Sarah Torres each getting two hits, with Torres driving in two runs. Dakota State walked 11 batters.

The Trojans are 5-12 overall and 2-2 in NSAA contests, and will visit Mount Marty in Yankton tomorrow for a doubleheader, starting at 1:00pm.
