Dakota State Runners Compete in Mount Marty Invite

Both men’s and women’s cross country runners for the Trojans ran in their final regular season race of the season on Saturday when they competed in the 29th annual Mount Marty Invitational. 

For the men’s the Trojans were the top North Star place finisher in the meet, finishing with a fourth place finish out of 12 teams with a low score of 124 points. NAIA’s nationally ranked No. 3 Dordt claimed the team title with a low score of 28 points, defeating NCAA Division II Sioux Falls with 38 points. Joe Anderson of Dordt won the individual title with a time of 25 minutes, .70 seconds.  A total of 145 runners competed at the 8K racecourse.

Cody Farland was the top NSAA place finisher with a time of 26 minutes, 7.98 seconds (meet personal record) for the Trojans. Martin Bailey added a meet personal record time of 26 minutes, 49.08 seconds to place 22nd.  Taylor Myers posted a time of 27 minutes, 22.19 seconds to place 38th. 

Espen Lehnst produced a personal best time of 27 minutes, 32.73 seconds to finish 42nd for Dakota State. Dalton Brouwer followed up with a meet personal best time of 27 minutes, 32.73 seconds to finish 43rd.  Evan Slominski was 45th after registering a time of 27 minutes, 38.86 seconds.

The women’s team, meanwhile, finished with a low score of 219 points, earning the eighth overall spot. NCAA Division II Sioux Falls won the team title with 34 points, edging out NAIA’s No. 8 ranked Dordt (Iowa) by 10 points (44 points). Khot Juac of Sioux Falls won the individual title with a time of 18 minutes, 2.06 seconds.

DSU was led by Lindsey Roth with a 34th-place finish with a time of 19 minutes, 54.39 seconds.  Madelyn Sylva followed up with a 45th-place finish in 20 minutes, 20.31 seconds. Jada Anderson paced with a time of 21 minutes, 3.27 seconds to finish 64th.

Brooke Beaucaire added a time of 21 minutes, 34.87 seconds to place 76th for Dakota State. Saddie Palmquist improved her season best time of 22 minutes, 9.73 seconds.  Courtney Meyer finished with a time of 27 minutes, 41.60 seconds.

Dakota State prepares for the NSAA Cross Country Championships on Friday, November 4th. The conference cross-country meet is held at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson, ND.
