Aslesen and Walsdorf Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

The 2022-23 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball was announced, with two Dakota State women’s basketball athletes listed on the CSC All-District team, selected by College Sports Communicators. The two Trojans were Senior Forward Elsie Aslesen and Junior Forward Savannah Walsdorf.

This recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with those honorees being announced in mid-March.

Prior to this weekend’s NSAA Women’s Basketball Postseason Final Four, Aslesen leads the team with 13.5 points per game, and also leads the team with 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. She ranks third in the NAIA in total blocks with 71 blocks.  She is 57.3 percent from the field (121-of-211 field goals) this season.

Walsdorf adds 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for the Trojans, and averages 2.3 steals per game. She is 48.5 percent from the field (126-of-260 field goals).

Both Aslesen and Walsdorf are members of the 1,000-point club in Dakota State women’s basketball program history.

They are integral members of the Trojan women’s basketball team that had won three consecutive NSAA regular-season titles outright. In addition, Dakota State had amassed an impressive record of 78-17 (.821 winning percentage) since the 2020-21 season.

Dakota State (24-5 overall record, ranked No. 24 in the final edition of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll) prepares for the NSAA’s semifinal contest on Saturday afternoon at 1pm versus Dickinson State.
