7 DSU Men’s Runners Hit Season Best Times

Seven Dakota State men’s runners set a season best time Friday afternoon in the 36th annual Roy Griak Invitational. 

The Trojans competed in the Jo Rider Men’s Maroon Race, featuring numerous NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA schools.  Michigan Tech claimed the team title with 62 points.  Ethan Gregg of Wisconsin-La Crosse captured the individual 8K title with a time of 25 minutes, 1.4 seconds.

Dakota State finished 19th out of 29 teams in the men’s maroon division, scoring 539 points. The Trojans improved three places from last year’s meet.

Cody Farland led the Trojans with a personal Roy Griak Invitational meet record time of 27 minutes, 29.7 seconds (season-best time). He finished 114th in the race.  Martin Bailey was 175th after clocking a time of 28 minutes, 24.3 seconds, followed by Colter Elkin with a 179th-place in 28:27.2. Curtis Johnson added a 183rd-place in 28 minutes, 34.6 seconds.

Taylor Myers produced a personal Roy Griak meet record time of 28 minutes, 39.7 seconds (season-best) to finish 192nd for DSU.  

Trojan Daniel Green produced season-best and personal Roy Griak Invitational time of 28:52.9 for 208th place finish. Espen Lehnst added a season best time of 29 minutes, 4.8 seconds to place 221st. 

Tucker Murtha hit a personal Roy Griak meet and season best time of 29 minutes, 38.8 seconds for Dakota State. Reese Henrie improved his season best time to 31 minutes, 30.9 seconds in the race. Lucas Harr hit a season best time of 33:42.7.

Dakota State takes a week off before returning to action on Saturday, October 8th. The Trojans run in the Holiday Inn Express Classic.
