After opening up the season this past weekend with a sweep at EPJ, the Madison Bulldog basketball teams saw themselves on the other side Tuesday night, being swept by the Mustangs of Tri-Valley.

The girls score was 65-36 and the boys 56-41. In our girls game, the two sides traded first quarter buckets and saw Madison with a modest 15-13 advantage through the first eight minutes. The host Mustangs came out hot in the second, getting timely three-point buckets and forcing turnovers that led to transition buckets. Halftime saw Tri-Valley hold a commanding 37-21 lead. The Lady Bulldogs were never able to get within striking distance in the second half, plagued by stifling Mustang defense and turnovers. Tabor Teel led all scores with 22 points in the win. Madison was led by Zoey Gerry’s 13 points.

In the nightcap, Madison came out sluggish offensively over the first 12 minutes of the game. A late first half surge found the Bulldogs trailing by seven points after two quarters. Once the Mustangs built the lead back into double-digits, Madison was never able to get within nine points in the second half, ultimately dropping their first game of the season. Aspen Dahl scored 13 points and Carter Bergheim finished with 11 for Madison.

Lady Bulldogs are 2-1 on the season and the Boys are 1-1. The two sides welcome Lennox for a doubleheader on Thursday in Madison.
