SDHSAA Volleyball State Championships Last Weekend

Last weekend, the high school volleyball season concluded with the SDHSAA State Championship matches, held in the Denny Sanford Premier Center, with Sioux Falls Christian, Harrisburg, and Warner all winning state championships.

In Class A  as the fourth seed, Sioux Fall Christian won in three sets in both matches on their way to the Class A State Championship, beating Dakota Valley (25-14, 25-16, 25-21) and Elk Point Jefferson (25-17, 25-7, 25-15). Then in the championship match against Elkton-Lake Benton (25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-13), the Chargers won in four sets to win the Class A State Championship.

Harrisburg went into the Class AA tournament as the number three seed, and won each of their three tournament games in four sets. Their first game was against Sioux Falls Lincoln (20-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17) before moving on to beat O’Gorman (21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23) in the semifinals. The Tigers then went on to beat Sioux Falls Jefferson in the Class AA State Championship  in four sets (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23).

Looking to repeat as Class B State Champions, Warner went into the tournament as the number one seed, first beating Freeman in four sets (25-21, 25-27, 25-16, 25-11) before shutting out Wolsey-Wessington in three sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-11). Finally, in the state championship, Warner went on to beat Chester Area in four sets (25-23, 25-16, 25-14, 26-24) to repeat as the Class B State Champions.
