Mudcats Need Extra Innings to Advance to Semi-Finals

The game had to go into extra innings to decide a winner, and with one run in the tenth, the Dell Rapids Mudcats were able to pull away from the Dimock/Emery Raptors to advance to the semifinals.

In the quarterfinal matchup of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament, runs were hard to get, with the score tied at 1-1 after nine innings.

Dalton Lehnen of the Mudcats helped to bring in the first run of the game in the top of the fifth with his RBI Single, before Doug Sudbeck hit an RBI Single as well for the Raptors in the bottom of the fifth.

In extra innings, Mudcats Ty Hogland smacked an RBI Single in the tenth, giving them the 2-1 lead, and after retiring three of four in the bottom of the tenth, the Mudcats secured the win and the advance to the semifinals.

The Mudcats will play Winner/Colome later on today with a trip to the state championship on the line.
