The St. Thomas More Cavaliers were more than McCook Central/Montrose could handle, falling 66-29 in the first round of the State A Girls basketball tournament in Watertown.

McCook Central/Montrose took the early lead and were only down by 3 at the end of the 1st quarter and 11 at half.  But the full court,  man to man defense of St. Thomas More combined with the  24 McCook Central/Montrose turnovers was too much to overcome and the Fighting Cougars lost their first round game 66-29.

Madison Koepsell led the Fighting Cougars in points and rebounds, finishing the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

With the loss McCook Central/Montrose will move to the consolation semifinals and will take on SF Christian tomorrow (today) at noon.

St. Thomas More moves to the Championship semifinals and will play Aberdeen Roncalli tomorrow night (tonight) at 5pm.  You can find complete pairing at the Krug Winter Sports Page at AmazingMadison.com
