Howard Dominant Against ORR

Both Howard boys and girls teams got dominating victories in their road matchups against Oldham-Ramona/Rutland earlier this week.

The only lead ORR had in the girls game was as much as a five point lead early in the game, before Howard took over for good. The Tigers scored 14 points in the first quarter and 13 points in the second while only allowing 12 total points to the Raiders in the first half.

Howard led 27-12 at halftime. The Tigers continued to control the game, leading by as much as 25 points early in the fourth quarter and getting their thirteenth win of the season, winning 58-36.

The Tigers were led by Kate Connor’s 22 points and nine rebounds. She also had two blocks. Tana Hoyer and Abby Asleesen each had eight points for Howard, with Asleesen also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out six assists, and getting four steals.

Alivia Bickett had ten points for the Lady Raiders along with four rebounds. Julia Trygstad snagged ten rebounds, had three steals, three assists, and two points. 

Howard improved to 13-3 with the win, while ORR suffered their ninth loss of the season, falling to 5-9.

The boys game was not any closer than the girls was, with the Tigers boys team getting a huge 82-24 win against the Raiders.

The Tigers scored 25 or more points in each of the first two quarters while allowing 20 total points in the first half, with Howard going into the intermission up 51-20. 

The Raiders were only able to score four more points for the rest of the game, while the Tigers continued to add to their lead scoring 31 more points to get the 82-24 victory over ORR.

Both Luke and Kolt Koepsell had 16 points for Howard, with Kolt also getting seven rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Luke added three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Taiden Hoyer also had double-digit points for the Tigers, scoring 11. 

Leading the way for the Raiders, Caiden Hojer had 11 points and three rebounds. 

ORR has now lost 13 games this season, dropping to 1-13 after the loss to Howard, who improved to 9-3 with their fifth straight win. 

Howard will have some time off before their next game, with the boys next game scheduled for next Thursday, February 9th, while the girls will wait until next Friday before playing Jones County. 

ORR will not have as much time off, with Raiders returning to action tomorrow at Mitchell Christian in a Double-Header.
