One northeastern South Dakota High School has elected to postpone the start of their basketball season due to COVID-19 cases and close contact issues. Parochial school Great Plains Lutheran, in Watertown, has moved the start of the respective basketball seasons to the week of January 11th. This coincides with their return from the holiday break. The two teams were slated to open their season tonight with a doubleheader with Iroquois-Doland.

It will make for a busy six week stretch for the Class B school, who is slated to play both Arlington teams and against the Lake Preston boys team in the early parts of February. The school hopes to reschedule games to get in at least 18 games for both the boys and girls. It is yet to be determined if that will affect games on the schedule after they return to school in January.
