Chester Area Wins Class B Championship

The Chester Area Flyers won their 2nd State Volleyball Championship in school history on Saturday, in a thrilling 3-2 win over the Warner Monarchs. Chester cruised into the title game with wins over Faulkton and Castlewood, setting up a rematch of last year’s championship match with #1 and undefeated Warner. 

The Monarchs took the early lead with a 25-20 win in the opening set. Chester responded by winning the 2nd and 3rd set to go up 2-1. Warner controlled the 4th set, and forced the 5th. The two teams traded the lead 3 times in the final set before Chester picked up the 15-13 win. 

Jacy Wolf led the way for Chester with a triple-double in the Championship match, picking up 18 kills, 17 assists, and 14 digs. Lilly VanHal picked up 39 assists and 12 kills. Emmerson Eppard added 15 kills in the win. 

Also Saturday, Sioux Falls Christian won the Class A title for the 7th year in a row and 12th time in school history. Harrisburg repeated as the AA Champions.
