Cardinals Hand Alpacas Their Fourth Cornbelt Loss

Losses have been rare so far this season for the Lennox Alpacas, but that didn’t seem to bother the Flandreau Cardinals, who handed the Alpacas only their fourth loss in Cornbelt play this season.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the bottom of the first, and never looked back as they continued to dominate the Alpacas.

Flandreau got another run in the fourth before Lennox finally got on the scoreboard with a run of their own in the top of the seventh. That wouldn’t fluster Flandreau, however, as they went on to score six more runs in the bottom of the seventh, extending their lead to 10-1.

Lennox struggled to get any more offense going in the remaining innings, and wouldn’t score anymore on their way to their fourth loss of the season coming at the hands of Flandreau with a final of 10-1.

Three hits was all Lennox could get in the game, while Flandreau was able to get 16 hits.

Flandreau will be back in action tonight when they host the Colman A’s in their rescheduled game from last Tueday. Lennox will try to get back to their winning ways on Thursday against a Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks team who have won their last three games now by a combined score of 38-4.
