29th Annual Entringer Classic Over the Weekend

This past weekend, the 29th Annual Boys Entringer Classic was held at Brookings High School, with ten different games being played, five of which featured schools in our area.

Leading off the Entringer Classic was Colman-Egan, who got a 64-45 victory over Oldham-Ramona/Rutland. The victory for the Hawks was their first of the season, as they ended the 2022 calendar year with a 1-2 record, while dropping ORR to 0-3.

Flandreau won their Entringer matchup by a similar score, defeating Arlington 66-43. The Fliers improved to 2-1 with the win, while Arlington dropped to 1-3.

Madison lost a much closer matchup to Castlewood, even after coming back from being down by as much as 16 points in the second half, by a final score of 53-48. Chester Area also lost in the Entringer, losing 54-39 against Deubrook Area.

After their losses, Madison and Chester Area both ended 2022 with only one win each, with the Bulldogs falling to 1-3 and the Flyers dropping to a 1-2 record. Deubrook evened their record to 2-2 with their win. 

In the final game of the Entringer Classic, Dell Rapids remained undefeated with their 64-52 win over Hamlin. The Quarriers are now 2-0 this season.

Some of the teams are scheduled to play their next games today, with ORR scheduled to play Freeman Academy/Marion at 6:30pm, while Colman-Egan and Arlington are supposed to play each other later on today at 6pm, weather permitting.

Flandreau is supposed to play in the Big East Conference Tournament later this week, starting on Thursday, January 5th, and Dell Rapids will also return to action on Thursday when they host Canton at 8pm. Chester Area will play on Thursday as well, when they compete in the BEC BBB Tournament, starting with a match against Beresford.

Madison will be back on the court this Friday, January 6th when they travel to Tea Area.
