Dakota State’s Savannah Walsdorf Breaks Trojan Women’s Basketball All-Time Scoring Record

On Friday in Mayville, North Dakota, Trojan history was made for Dakota State. Savannah Walsdorf officially became the all-time scoring leader in Trojan Women’s Basketball history with 1,960 points.

In the game on Friday, Walsdorf went 6-7 from the field and scored 15 points and her 11th point took the top spot all-time. Surpassing Jessi Giles, who scored 1,954 points from 2018-22. Before the season began, she was in exclusive company. As just one of three players with 1,500 points scored in her career. Now she stands alone above them all.

She reached the #1 spot in 151 games and nearly five full seasons. With her first year being the 2019-20 season. It’s one of the many records she holds in Trojan history. To go along with the all-time lead in scoring, steals and field goals made, she had four rebounds in that same game in Mayville. Now tying her for first all-time in rebounds with Julie Fiegen who had 954 rebounds in her career from 1982-86.

Walsdorf’s 1,960 points is just 40 shy of being the first Women’s Basketball player in school history to reach the 2k points mark. With at least three games guaranteed left in the season, she has a chance to reach that 2,000 point mark.
