Two More Cornbelt Teams Advance to the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Tournament

The Canova Gang and Dell Rapids PBR are going to the South Dakota Amateur Baseball State Tournament after their wins last night.

Canova’s Jason Miller had a home run and drove in four in the 10-2 win against Lennox. Jason and Derek Miller both scored twice, and Riley Genslinger touched home three times. Kendall Gassman pitched six innings, allowing two runs and striking out two.

Three Dell Rapids hitters had two or more hits in the 12-2 win in eight innings over Colman.The game ended with a two-run home run by Nate McKee. He had another RBI and run scored. Riley Calhoon scored three times with two stolen bases. Riley Hoffman pitched eight innings, allowing only one earned run with six strikeouts. Chase DeWitt homered in the loss for Colman.

After the losses in last night’s game, Colman will play Madison tonight at 6:00 p.m. on Dakota’s Best AM1390, followed by Lennox taking on Salem at 8:00 p.m. on Jammin’ Country 103. The winners will advance to the state championship and the losers will play for the final spot from District 4B in states. That will be the first game tomorrow, along with the District 4B championship game between Flandreau and the Dell Rapids Mudcats right after.
