Shirley Palli, age 88, of Madison, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 at Bethel Lutheran Home in
Madison.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 2nd at St. Williams Catholic Church in
Ramona with Father Anthony Urban as the Celebrant. Visitation will be 5 – 7:00 PM on Monday at
Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Ann

Shirley was born on June 30, 1935 in Chanute, Kansas, moved to Los Angeles, California in 1945 and
graduated from high school in 1953. Shirley and Gene met and were married in 1957. They moved to the
Ramona area in 1967 to be close to family. She worked in the insurance business for 25 years and
retired in 2000 from First Madison Insurance.
Shirley loved bowling, baking, tending to her flower gardens, and found daily pleasures watching birds
and squirrels. She enjoyed making special gifts for friends and family including a unique crocheted
afghan for each of her 11 grandchildren. She sang in the choir at St. Williams and was on the St. Ann
Cemetery board for a number of years.
She is survived by her children-Kathy (Tim) Riedel of Ramona; Dan (Tammy) Palli of Ramona; Karen
Schwartz of Westside, Iowa; David (Deb Jaskot) of Dell Rapids and Karol (Paul) Ottoson of Chester; 14
grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mildred Richartz and her husband, Gene Palli.
The family has designated Bethel Lutheran Home and St. Ann’s Cemetery Fund for memorial
contributions.
