Rose was born on March 8,1927, on a farm three miles south of Farmer, South Dakota, to Margaret and Paul Dorweiler.  Rose was the youngest of 12 children.  She attended and graduated from the St. Mary’s school system.  After her high school graduation, Rose took a job at Central Electric and Gas. Following her dreams, she then joined her five sisters in California. Rose loved California, however she returned to Salem in 1946 to care for her parents. Subsequently, Rose met and married Floyd Forster on April 10, 1948.  Rose and Floyd raised six children, traveled, and danced together for 63 years before Floyd passed away in 2011.

After marriage, Rose was employed as a dental assistant with Dr. Ellis, and then took a position in the office at Feterl Manufacturing Company where she was employed for 23 years.  Rose loved her work at Feterl Manufacturing and made many life-long friends there.

Rose placed great value on her spiritual life, her family, and on education. She was an avid reader and a life-long learner.  She volunteered at the Salem Food Pantry and the Salem Museum. Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for her entire life, served there in many capacities over the years, and attended daily mass for most of her life.  Rose frequently visited friends and family at the Salem Nursing Home throughout her retirement years.  Rose took great pride and joy in her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by her six children:  Kathy Forster (Skip) – Houston, TX; Beth Forster – Madrid, Spain; Tim Forster – Rapid City, SD; Tom (Cindy) Forster – Stevens Point, WI; Marty Forster – Rapid City, SD; and Terry Forster – Salem, SD.  Rose was preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, and her husband, Floyd.
