Rodney Schiefelbein

Rodney Schiefelbein, age 79, of Madison, passed peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2022 at his home
surrounded by family.
Rodney Orrin Schiefelbein was born December 24, 1942 in Clear Lake, SD to Harris & Delores (Thoelke)
Schiefelbein. He attended Clear Lake schools on thru to graduation. In December 1966, Rodney
attended Dakota State with a major in business administration. He was drafted into the US Army on
April 5, 1967. In March 1968, he married Patty McQuaig. Rodney was honorably discharged from the
Army on March 28, 1969 and immediately went back to college and received his teaching degree from
Black Hills State University. He taught school in Sturgis & Milbank for a total of 4 years.
In August 1974, Rodney went into the insurance business in Sturgis. He later transferred to Rapid City
and then on to Denver where he became manager for New York Life. He retired after 33 years and
moved back to South Dakota. In 2009, he married Adell Westensee.
He was a spiritual man and attended church at Arlington Methodist Church and attended bible study in
Madison.
He is survived by his wife, Adell; two children, Jessica (Brandon) Rogers and Preston Schiefelbein; two
grandchildren, Ben & Elliot Rogers and his furry friend, Ole.
There will be a Celebration of Rod’s life this coming May at Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake.
