Lindon “Pete” Potter was born June 30, 1941, in Madison, SD, to Daniel and Fairy (Robb) Potter.
He was baptized and confirmed in the United Church of Christ in Winfred and was a lifetime
member. Pete attended Winfred grade and high school until transferring to Howard High
School where he graduated in 1960.

Pete married Karen Hillman on August 3, 1963, in Canova, SD. After getting married, they
moved to their farm near Winfred, SD. Pete cherished the farm and ranch way of life, making
sure all the livestock were always fed. This lifestyle showed through his tireless involvement
raising and showing livestock for many years. He was one of the founders of the Miner County
Feeder Calf Show and served as a director on the South Dakota and National Chianina Boards as
well as on the Clearwater Township Board.

He spent many hours passing his knowledge to the next generation and especially enjoyed
watching his children and grandchildren flourish in their sporting, livestock and horse projects.
His time with family was very special. In his last months, he especially looked forward to the
weekly visits of his great-grandchildren.
Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends. There were many walleye fishing trips to the
Missouri River and a highlight trip to Lake Erie. He was a history buff and was a collector of
many items.

In the past several years, Pete’s health limited him from attending events and going to church.
He had a strong Christian faith and loved to sing gospel and country songs.
Those grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 60 years, Karen of Winfred, SD; son, Mark
and his wife Donita of Winfred, SD; daughter, Deb and her husband Dave Slack of Fargo, ND;
