Patricia Mae Stout, age 74, passed away Friday, February 9th at Madison Regional Health System in Madison.
atricia was born May 1, 1949, to Robert and Zona (Anderson) Laughlin in Madison, SD.  She graduated from Madison High School. She married Melvin Pekarek on June 27, 1970. Together they had two daughters.  On March 4, 1995, she married Douglas Stout and gained two stepdaughters.
Pat was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Madison.  She worked at the Madison Daily Leader starting as a teenager and retiring in September 2022.  The Leader was her second family. She enjoyed bowling, having coffee and supper with her friends.
Pat loved her grandchildren.  You could always find her at the gym, ball field and golf course cheering them on in the stands or watching a play or music concert.  We joked about how many countless hours she spent sitting and watching them.
Pat is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Pekarek (Kathy Yates), of Sioux Falls and Jennifer (Chad) Malone, of De Smet; six grandchildren, Timothy and Katelyn Jaycox, Wiatt and Connor Hively and Carter and Ava Malone; two stepdaughters Toni (Jim) Stout and Leslie Stout. six step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Douglas Stout, brother Roger Laughlin and sister-in-law Dorothy Laughlin.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14th at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be 5 -7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13th at the Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service.  Lunch will be served in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church after the funeral. The burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Madison following lunch.
