Born on October 27, 1943, in Montrose, SD, to Fern Hoefert (Olson), Lloyd spent his life embodying the values of hard work, faith, and family. He married Celeste Vinz on February 12, 1977, and together they were blessed with four boys: Cody, Casey, Grant, and Garrett.

Lloyd’s entrepreneurial spirit led him through a diverse array of ventures, from raising calves, custom round baling, and farming, to owning and operating businesses such as a cafe, bar, and car dealership, before ultimately finding fulfillment as a rural mail carrier. However, his greatest passion lay in his faith in Jesus and his commitment to his family. He found solace and joy in attending church and supporting his loved ones, often spending his free time surrounded by them in church pews and gymnasiums.

On July 2, 2006 he married Jan Tastad and they lived together in Iowa until his time of passing.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jan; his children, Cody (Jennifer), Casey, Grant, and Garrett (Tracey); his two step-daughters, Aimee and Angela (Danny); eight cherished grandchildren; and siblings, Ginger Froslee, Molly Rohrs, and Raymond Hoefert. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern, and brothers Vern and Lee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to Lloyd’s favorite charities.
