Gerald “Jerry” Lee Sampson, 73, of Canistota passed away February 15, 2022 at his home under hospice care.  No services are planned at this time.

Gerald Sampson was born July 8, 1948 to Herold and Edith (Linnel) Sampson in Aberdeen, SD.  He grew up in Corson, SD and attended school at Brandon Valley before leaving to honorably served his country in the US Navy from July, 1967 to November 1969.  On January 14, 1978 he married Joyce Jepp.  He served as a diesel mechanic for American Rim and Brake and later did road construction for Taylor’s Blacktop.  Jerry  loved going to his grandkids sporting events and spending time with them.

Jerry is survived by: wife, Joyce of Canistota; children, Wesley White of Sioux Falls and Angel (Mike) Butner of Canistota; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben) Casper, Christina, Tristen, Tayler, Lexi and Tate Tieszen, Jacob (Lexi) Ellis, Austin Ellis and Kiana White; step-grandchildren, Jordan Ellis and Mataya Butner; great-granddaughter, Ivy Casper; and siblings, Nancy (Ken) Hawks, Barb Peterson, Chuck Gates and Tom Hardin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Chris Sampson and a daughter, Jennifer Sampson.
