Florella K. Koepp, 87, of Sioux Falls, passed away on January 14, 2020 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin on Monday, January 20 at 11 am at Sunnycrest United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin one hour prior.
Florella Kathrine Heupel was born August 1, 1932 to Edward and Esther (Sayler) Heupel at Eureka, SD. She attended country school in her parents summer kitchen until high school, where she graduated from Eureka High School. She moved to Aberdeen, SD in August, 1950 where she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. In 1952, she married Mervin Moser. They had one adopted son, Don Moser, who passed away February 14, 1979.
Florella attended and graduated from Stewarts School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls, SD. She then was a manager of Flair Salon in Aberdeen, SD. There she also served as head organist at Calvary Baptist Church.
On February 14, 1970, she married William Koepp in Sioux Falls, SD, where she worked at the Stylist Salon in the Park Ridge Mall for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She became a member of Sunnycrest Church of Sioux Falls, SD where she was an organist and did other various activities in the church, including helping her husband with custodial duties for 21 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed entertaining friends and family and playing the piano.
In 1995, Florella and her husband retired and moved to the small community of Canistota, SD, where she continued to be involved with church life at the United Church of Canistota. Due to health issues, Florella moved back to Sioux Falls, SD and spent her spare time playing games on her IPad and enjoying her pets.
She leaves behind two children, Kristy Koepp-Shoeffleman (Jeff Schoffelman) of Sioux Falls and Matt Koepp (Rhonda Koepp) of Canistota; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a special lady and foster child that blessed her life, Sheila Agee ( Dr. LuAnn Eidsness) of Brandon, SD.
Preceding her in death are her husband, William Koepp, parents, Ed and Esther Heupel, son, Don Moser, brother, Stan Heupel and beloved sister-in-law, Jeanette Heupel.
