DeLoris Alfson, age 88, of Madison, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Bethel Lutheran Home.
Funeral service will be at 2 PM on Thursday, October 27 th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven
Lindley officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Wednesday at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with a
prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Online guestbook is at www.rustandweilandfuneral.com. The

DeLoris JoAnn Hanson was born March 21, 1934, in Madison, SD to Halbert & Selma (Stephenson)
Hanson. She graduated from General Beadle High School in 1953. On October 9, 1955, she married
Merlin Heppler and tragically lost him on April 2, 1966, due to a car accident. DeLoris later married
William “Bill” Alfson on December 1, 1972 and spent 31 years together before he passed December 8,
2003.
In her spare time, DeLoris loved to do her gardening, go bowling, golfing, camping and playing cards.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor and the tremendous love that she had for her family.
DeLoris is survived by her five sons, Kevin (Julie) Heppler of Harrisburg, SD, Alan (Lori) Alfson of Sierra
Vista, AZ, Marcus (Cindy) Heppler of Madison, Mitchell Alfson of West Lafayette, IN and Jerome Heppler
of Madison; two daughters, Lynnette Taylor of Brookhaven, GA and Taleesia Heppler of Madison; 13
grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Robert (Marie) Hanson; sister,
LaVonne (Lloyd) Robeson and son-in-law, William Taylor.
