Jensen’s Big Night Helps Extend Bulldogs Win Streak to Four

Last night the Madison Bulldogs boys basketball team hosted the Dell Rapids Quarriers, and handed Dell Rapids their second loss of the year while extending the Bulldogs current win streak to four.

Dell Rapids came in as the second best team in Region 3A, and Madison gave them everything they had. 

Neither team was able to gain much separation from the other, with the largest lead for either team being a nine point lead for Dell Rapids in the second quarter. However, Madison was able to gain the lead heading into the half, up 33-32 at halftime.

The second half was played similarly to the first half, with Madison outscoring Dell Rapids 16-15 in the third quarter, and Dell Rapids outscoring Madison 14-13 in the final quarter. 

In the final minute with the Quarriers up by one, Ben Brooks came up with the loose ball before passing it to Andrew Comes who hit the layup to give Madison the lead with under seven seconds left. Jack Henry for Dell Rapids was unable to hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, giving Madison the 62-61 home victory. 

Aiden Jensen had a huge night for the Bulldogs, recording 39 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Jensen also had three blocked shots. 

Brooks also had double-digit points for Madison, getting 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Comes finished with seven points, including the game-winner.

For Dell Rapids, Henry ended the night with 11 points and six rebounds. Brayden Pankonen was the leading scorer for the Quarriers with 20 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. 

There were 15 lead changes throughout the game, and it was tied on seven different occasions.

Dell Rapids falls to 6-2 after the loss, while Madison improves to 5-4 to extend their current win streak to four games. 

Bulldogs travel to Sioux Falls Christian this evening to take on the undefeated Chargers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm tonight, and can be heard after the conclusion of the girls game on AM 1390 or online at AmazingMadison.com.Â
