Tru Shrimp Plans to Start Madison Facility Construction by 2024

The tru Shrimp president and CEO Michael Ziebell says the company plans to start construction of a facility in Madison by 2024. Speaking with South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Ziebell says the planned Madison facility will be capable of producing about 1.8 million pounds of shrimp, and about 600,000 pounds of pet food ingredients.

Tru Shrimp had originally planned to break ground in Madison in 2021, with plans to produce about 10 million pounds of shrimp per year. The company has faced financial difficulties since the initial announcement.

Ziebell said they hope to break ground on the new South Dakota plant in 2024 and when complete, it will offer a minimum of 60 new jobs.
